About Courtney
Courtney Faunce is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, LMHC17700, Nationally Certified Counselor, Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (C-CATP), Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider, and Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy (EDIT) Level III Trained therapist. She is also an EMDRIA approved EMDR Therapist. Courtney has been in private practice for over seven years and is the owner and creator of Embody Therapy and EMDR, LLC. Embody Therapy is a private mental wellness practice focusing on helping individuals on their journey healing the mind, body, and spirit connection. Courtney has been a resident of SWFL since 2004 after relocating from New Jersey. She spends her time enjoying travel and nature, cooking something new, lifting weights, and listening to music as much as possible. Courtney is a proud dog&cat momma to Nori and Citi.
Professional Experience
Courtney graduated from the CACREP accredited program at Florida Gulf Coast University with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She completed her undergraduate studies at Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Sociology. Courtney served as a 211 Big Bend crisis counselor as well as the Family Health Line (1-800-451-2229). Among her academic focus, Courtney completed studies in Medical Epidemiology, Social Psychology, and Social Justice. Courtney has three years of experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Florida Department of Education. Courtney began her private practice in November 2017 with Lifescape Counseling Services, LLC, now known as Lifescape Integrative Therapy. Courtney served as Agency Partner at Lifescape for two years assisting in operations of the group practice, outreach and community building, and professional development initiatives. While in private practice, Courtney spent two semesters teaching Group Dynamics at Florida Southwestern College as an adjunct professor. She is now owner and creator of Embody Therapy and EMDR, LLC focusing on helping individuals on their journey healing the mind, body, and spirit connection.

Courtney’s expertise is in providing clinical mental health therapy to adolescents, young adults, and families in individual and group settings. She specializes in working with young adults and on topics such as relationships, career development, mindfulness, assertive communication, and empowerment. She has unique experience working with individuals in the neurodivergent community and customizes therapeutic treatment to meet each person’s needs. Therapy will identify strengths, needs, and abilities, individualization development, self-advocacy skill-building, and validate each person’s different life experiences.
Courtney is a HAES (Health at every size) aligned therapist specializing in treating eating disorders using Acceptance and commitment therapy, collaborative care, Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy, and EMDR. Courtney recognizes the spectrum of disordered eating regarding our relationship with food, body movement, body image, and maladaptive coping from trauma. Utilizing a person-centered comprehensive approach, Courtney will work with you to identify goals, effective coping skills, and practice communication skills in a safe space for you to find healing mind, body, and spirit.
