You Don't Have to Have It All Figured Out to Begin
The only thing you need to start is the willingness to try.
So many people put off therapy because they're waiting to feel "ready,"waiting until things get bad enough, or clear enough, or until they can find the right words to explain what's wrong. But healing doesn't ask you to arrive prepared. It asks you to arrive.
At Embody Therapy & EMDR, our first job is to make you feel safe. Before any deep work begins, we take the time to build a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, respect, and genuine human connection. We move at your pace — always. You are never pushed into territory you're not ready for, and you always have the right to slow down, pause, or change direction.
Whether you're walking in with a clear sense of what you want to heal or simply a quiet feeling that something needs to change — you are welcome here, exactly as you are.

What If This Time Was Different?
Not all therapy is the same. And neither are you.
Maybe you've tried therapy before and it didn't quite land. Maybe it felt too surface-level, too clinical, or like the real stuff never got touched. Maybe you've spent years talking about your past without it actually shifting. That experience is more common than you might think — and it doesn't mean therapy can't work for you. It may just mean you haven't found the right fit yet.
At Embody Therapy & EMDR, we specialize in the kind of healing that reaches beyond what words can access. Our therapists are trained in modalities — like EMDR and somatic approaches — that work with your nervous system, not just your narrative. We believe the goal of therapy isn't to help you cope with a life that feels hard. It's to help you build a life that feels like yours.
You deserve more than coping. You deserve to feel free.

FAQs
I'm not sure I have "real" trauma. Do I qualify for EMDR or trauma therapy?
Yes — and we'd gently push back on the idea that trauma has to look a certain way to be real. Trauma isn't defined by the severity of an event; it's defined by the impact it had on your nervous system and sense of self. Chronic stress, emotional neglect, growing up in a home with instability, difficult relationships, medical experiences, or years of feeling like something is wrong with you — these all leave marks. You don't need a dramatic story to deserve trauma-informed care.
I'm neurodivergent (ADHD, autism, or similar). Will I actually feel understood here?
Absolutely — and this matters deeply to us. Neurodivergent individuals are often misunderstood in traditional therapy settings, where the default is neurotypical communication and processing styles. At Embody Therapy, we are neurodivergent-affirming in our clinical approach and in how we show up in the room. We adapt to how you think, communicate, and process — not the other way around. Many of our clients are neurodivergent, and many of our therapists have personal and professional experience in this space.
Does Embody Therapy take insurance?
We are currently in-network with Aetna and United Health. If you have one of these plans, we recommend contacting us before your first session so we can help you understand your benefits. We also offer private pay for clients who are uninsured, out-of-network, or who prefer the confidentiality and flexibility that comes with self-pay. A Good Faith Estimate is available upon request.
Do you offer telehealth? Do I have to come in person?
How long will I be in therapy?
Both options are available. We see clients in person at our Cape Coral office and virtually via telehealth for adults throughout the state of Florida. Many of our clients prefer telehealth for the flexibility and comfort of being in their own space — especially for deeper trauma work. Either way, the quality of care is the same.
This is genuinely different for every person, and any therapist who gives you a firm number upfront is guessing. Some clients come in with a specific, focused goal and feel a meaningful shift within a few months. Others are working through years of complex trauma and relational patterns and find that longer-term therapy serves them best. We will never keep you in therapy longer than you need — and we'll check in regularly on your goals and progress so you always feel like you're moving forward.
